Personal Insight to My Exchange

My earliest memories reflect my curiosity of everything around me. As years passed, that same interest in the world that existed beyond the islands I was limited to, only grew. It feels as if the whole world is waiting for me.

I remember on my ninth birthday, I realized I'd never know how far I could go until I went. At the age of twelve, I chose Sweden as my dream destination. I began studying Swedish from Duolingo-lasting over seventeen months. I lost hope when my sister said my dream of going to Sweden was just that-a dream.

Luckily my dream didn't end there. In November of 2018, I found a Rotary Youth Exchange pamplet in my high school office. At the age of fourteen when I learned I was to spend my year abroad in Sweden, I remembered that younger Kara. This exchange is not only for the little girl in me, but also to prove dreams do come true.

Even after living in Sweden, it doesn't feel quite feel! I'm living the dream. Every day is a blessing.
