Enligt på mig, chokladbollar är smaka var som helst. Jag tycker om kaffet smaka.
Bara fem ingredients!
100 grams vaniljsocker (vanilla sugar)
100 grams smör (butter)
3 deci liters starkt kaffe, varmt! (strong coffee, hot!)
3 tablespoons cocoa powder (some sort of swedish spoon measurement for this)
125 grams oats
My host mother and host sister are talented bakers. They make kanelbulle, chokladbollär, and rolled cake all from scratch. Yesterday my sister offered to teach me how to make chokladbollär since it‘s my favorite.
My sister ordered me around in swedish; telling me what ingredients to grab, what color they are, and how much to scoop into the bowl. It was a little stressful at first but as we went on I recognized the way she pronounces things when she enunciates and I sort of understood.
Once we’d gotten everything all mixed up, she told me to mix it all with my hands. I washed them first because I felt strange without gloves. Once I got comfortable with it though mixing the dough was so fun. Even therapeutic. I’ve been so worried about speaking perfect swedish and constantly studying that making desserts felt sweet-literally. I rolled the chocolate balls and Ella rolled them in the sugar chunks. When we finished she put them in the fridge and I went to study. I felt so refreshed the lessons went fast.
Jag är stolt av mig.
